Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken tikka masala is an famous Indian dish which is nowadays mostly popular in western world. Fun fact is that this dish was first made by Indians in UK and because of the techniques and ingredients it is now loved in all over the world.


It is a dish consisting of roasted marinated chicken pieces dipped in spicy and creamy curry sauce. Personally my family is a fan of chicken tikka masala and it is the most loved dish at my home!


Let's see a quick recipe to make this yummylicious dish!


Ingredients Required:

For Chicken Tikka:

  • Fresh Chicken: 500 grams

  • Curd: 4 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder: 1 tbsp

  • Garam masala powder: 2 tsp

  • Turmeric powder: 1 tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste: 2 tbsp

  • Cumin powder: 1 tsp

  • Methi leaves: 1 tbsp

  • Lemon juice: half a lemon

  • Salt: as per taste

For Gravy:

  • Onion: 1 large chopped

  • Tomato Puree: 3 medium

  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp

  • Garam masala: 1 tsp

  • Red chili powder: 1 tsp

  • Salt: as per taste

  • Coriander leaves

  • Milk: half a cup

  • Butter & Ghee


Instructions:
  1. Marinate chicken with curd, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, methi leaves, lemon juice and salt.

  2. Set aside for one hour so that all the flavours should infuse in the kitchen.

  3. Once the chicken is completely marinated, take a kadhai and add 2 tbsp Ghee in it. Fry the chicken on high frame until they are golden brown.

  4. For gravy, In a kadhai add 3 tbsp butter and sauce the onion. Once the onions are partially cooked, add ginger garlic paste along with salt. Saute them till the mixture turns light brown.

  5. Add red chilli powder, garam masala while keeping the flame low and mix the spices very well.

  6. Now add the tomato puree and saute it till oil separates. The separation of oil is an indication that gravy is cooked well.

  7. After this, add half cup water, mix the gravy. Let it simmer for 1 min on low flame.

  8. Now add Chicken Tikka pieces in the gravy. Cover the lid and cook it for 10 mins on low flame.

  9. After 10 mins add milk and simmer it for 5 mins. Cook until chicken is completely cooked.

  10. Transfer it in serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves, butter and 1 tsp cream. Serve hot with roti/ rice.
