Clay Pot Chicken Curry

Clay Pot Chicken Curry is an easy and handy recipe for Keralites. If you want a simple and spicy chicken curry recipe then this is for you. The only pre requisite is that you should have clay pot. It enhances the taste of chicken curry to a whole different level.

Let's see a quick recipe to make this dish!

Ingredients Required:
  • Chicken: 1 kg

  • Coconut Oil: 1/4 cup

  • Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp

  • Onion: 2 medium

  • Ginger garlic paste: 2 tbsp

  • Green chillies: 2

  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp

  • Corriander powder: 2 tbsp

  • Chilli Powder: 3/4 tbsp

  • Tomato: 1 large

  • Salt as per taste

  • Curry leaves

  • Water: 1.5 cup

  • Garam Masala Powder: 1 tbsp

  • Pepper powder: 1/4 tsp

  1. In a claypot heat coconut oil.

  2. Add mustard seeds, let it splutter.

  3. Add onions, saute them till it turns brown.

  4. Now add green chillies, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder and chilly powder. Saute them together for 30 secs.

  5. Add tomato, salt, curry leaves, chicken and saute for 2 mins.

  6. Add hot water, close the lid and cook it for 20 mins on low flame.

  7. Once the Chicken is completely cooked, add garam masala powder, pepper powder and mix well.

  8. Garnish it with tempered curry leaves and serve hot.
